Keep your stainless steel pans looking good with these tips

Do you like to sear your steak so that the inside remains deliciously tender? Or do you like to put your frittata in the oven after frying? Then you need a pan that can handle high temperatures. A stainless steel pan is the best choice. To keep your stainless steel pan looking good for as long as possible, we've got a few tips for you. So that it continues to shine in your kitchen after you've finished cooking.

First give it a wash

You can't wait to get started on that tasty stew, but it's not a good idea to put your new pan on the stove right away. There might still be some transport dirt on it. Not so tasty. So, wash your pan thoroughly first.

A soft sponge is your stainless steel pan's best friend

What an evening! Good food and a lovely after-dinner drink with your friends. But then there are the dishes. Although it is tempting to throw everything into the dishwasher, it is better to wash your stainless steel pan by hand. Our stainless steel pans also have a Thermolon non-stick coating on the inside, so that your crispy fried chicken breast does not stick to the pan. In the dishwasher, the non-stick coating is damaged. Fortunately, this same non-stick coating also makes washing up a breeze. Use a soft sponge and a little washing-up liquid. A quick scrub and you're done. And that steel wool sponge? You can throw it in the bin.

Temper the temperature

The times of turning up the heat to high to get the pan properly warm is over. The non-stick coating ensures that the heat is distributed well through the pan, so putting the hob on medium-high heat is sufficient. Want to know if your pan is hot enough? Do this test: drop a few drops of water into the pan. Do you hear the water hissing in the pan? Then you know your pan is ready to use. Do you want to sear your steak or chicken? Then of course you can increase the temperature.

Boiling water against stubborn stains

Although your pan is designed not to stick, your fried egg may have been left in the pan just a little too long. This causes a stubborn stain that you can't easily wash away. Irritating, but don't worry. You can get this pan clean without too much effort. Fill your pan with a little water and let it boil for a while. Then rinse the water away and wipe the pan clean. There, you can put your showpiece back in the drawer.

No scratch with wooden or plastic spatulas

It looks super-professional: using a spoon to pour the released fat over the steak. The result is a deliciously tender piece of meat. But a steel spoon is not good if you want to keep your pan scratch-free. Scratches not only make the pan less attractive, but also cause the non-stick coating to deteriorate over time. Instead, use a silicone or wooden spoon in your pan. It works just as well!

For some extra protection, the Thermolon non-stick coating is reinforced with diamonds, which makes the pans less prone to damage. So, you don't have to worry about having to replace your pan after a year.

Top tip: use pan protectors when storing the pans. There is nothing as annoying as taking out a pan full of scratches.

Goodbye discoloured stainless steel pans

A discoloured pan on the shelf is not a pretty sight. However, with many stainless steel pans you can't escape it, because stainless steel discolours when exposed to heat. We've thought of a solution. All our stainless steel pans are treated with our Evershine technology: A surface treatment that makes the pan less prone to discolouration. No reason to hide your pan in a cupboard, then.

Beautiful pans should be put on the table with pride. But our pans are not only of high quality and beautiful to look at. They also contribute to a better environment and better health. That is because we provide all our pans with a PFAS-free non-stick coating, so no toxic substances can be released during cooking. Good for now and good for later
